Arkansas River Coalition Twilight Float for Thursday, September 20, 2012-- On The Little Arkansas River....Meet between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m.; departing by 6:00 p.m.

Description: Because of the earlier sunset time, this Twilight Float is a shortened version of the usual Little Arkansas River float. The float is approximately 3 miles long and starts at the 12th St. N.and Bitting Street bridge and ends at the Wulz Tennis Center parking lot area located in the South Riverside Park.

Float Starts: from the 12th Street and Bitting Street bridge. This launch point can be reached by driving on 13th Street N., turning S. on Bitting St., or, by driving on Central Ave. and turning N. onto Nims St continuing N. where it turns into Bitting St and intersects with 12th St.

Unloading at the Launch Site: There is streetside parking where we can unload and carry our boats down to the nearby cement boat dock.

Float Length and Sights Along the River: About 3 miles total......along parks and greenways with nearby larger homes.....under several river bridges......quiet waters and some wildlife.

Float Ends: At the boat dock located next to the parking lot of the Wulz Tennis Center in South Riverside Park near the intersection of Central and Nims St.

Timetable: Gather at the launch site any time between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. (persons wanting to use the ARC kayaks be there by 5:15 p.m.); run a shuttle to park vehicles at the landing site; back to the launch site and on the water by 6:00 p.m.; land boats and be off the river by sundown.

Suggested Carry Items: Bring drinking water, a snack, sun protection, bug repellent and the usual safety and essential gear. A personal flotation device (PFD or life jacket) is required.

Waivers: A signed waiver of liability is required of each participating paddler.
